Abstract

Investigations on the Old Printed Cyrillic Books in Hungary began by works of A. Hodinka at the beginning of the 20th century. He was of the false opinion that liturgical books were imported from the territory of Moscovia; however, it would cost more expensive than to purchase books from the neightbouring Ukrainina Typographies. Then in 60-ies and 70-ies of 20th c, E. Ojtozi's findings made a great step toward the international coooperation of the researchers in the field, to be highlighted Nemirovksy in Moscow and Isayevich in Ukraine. The first steps for describing the Cyrillica fond of the Eger Archdiocesan Library were made in the 60-ies of the 20th century, by dilettant approach within frameworks of the journalism. S. Földvári studied the whole archival matter, including earlier catalogues and sources in the local church archive. He gave the correct descripiton of the books in details, and E. Ojtozi made annotations about items referring to the numbers of the international standard bibliographies. The provenance of these books must be originated in the contacts between Eger Roman Catholic Diocese (archdiocese since 1804) and the Mukachevo Greek Catholic Diocese in the 18th century. Bishop K. Esterházy founded a grandious library and provided education of some Greek Catholic alumni in his Roman Catholic seminary as well. It must be maintaned the Cyrillic books put into this library by the education of Greek Catholic alumni. The catalogue itself, of the Cyrillic and Glagolitic book of this fond, has been published as a separate book in 1992, with an introduction in Hungarian; this paper gives the matter of that study in Russian version with some corrections and contrubutions.
