Abstract

Nowadays the modern world crises and its consequences confirm the fact that in these days the most damaged social-economic tension sources are the drastic unemployment rate which is growing in some fields. Losing jobs, less opportunity to work, cumulative backsliding affect those regions where the poverty line is very high and lots of people live in the periphery of society. The aim of this study is to examine one disadvantageous cross-border region, the Dráva region which struggles with employment problems because it discovers the changes in the employment and the momentary relationships and correspondences of causes. This study gives information mainly about the structural characteristics, the underlying processes and causes of the problems with the help of regional data. It gives priority to social groups with less chance because of different reasons (women work, beginners, elderly, and people with less qualification), paying more attention to the local features of the region and their unique effects. This study shows the problems with seasonality to analyze the employment processes in the regional and temporal sections of structural, frictional and temporary unemployment. The results of this research give useful material to people, who are interested in solving similar problems and who support locals, local politicians, people who represent the workforce, the researchers working in this topic and of course for readers who are interested in this subject.
