Abstract
In this paper we will focus on the university education, BA and especially MA programs in Public Administration, Policy or Management (hereinafter PA programs; embracing all the three fields) in Central and Eastern Europe (hereinafter: CEE). In accordance with most of the literature special emphasis will be given to the analysis of disciplinary character of the programs. Other issues, like instruction style, practical orientation of the programs will also be addressed. Typical or rather ideal type Anglo-American MPA will serve as reference point vis-a-vis findings may be interpreted. The territorial scope of the study is set up by the notion of Central and Eastern Europe (Bibó, 1991; Schöpflin, 1990; Szűcs, 1983); practically focusing on post-communist member states of the EU.
