Abstract
The present paper examines the relationship between gastronomy and orthography, from the spelling of gastronomic fashions, through places and occasions of dining, Hungarian and international food and wine names, to the linguistic characteristics of online gastronomic texts. We can state that it is a rapidly changing and evolving vocabulary layer which follows gastronomic trends, and which, however, is currently characterized by the lack of regulation as well as inconsistencies in practice. It will definitely be worthwhile to compile a collection of gastronomic words that also takes into account the latest developments and spelling principles.
