Abstract
The study aims to analyse the history of a 1954 speech in detail and explore two related life stories. The ministers were expected to support the forced socialist transformation of the Hungarian agricultural sector in their sermons, in addition to the reading of the bishop’s circular letter on the subject. Two pastors, Péter Fekete and Tibor Kovács were not willing to do this. Their 1954 address became much more significant in church history than they had suspected, and unfortunately, it accompanied them for a much longer time than they might have thought. The Memorandum and the testimony of the two assistant pastors was an important moment in the thread of church history.
