Abstract

Our paper reflects upon an Old Testament linguistic problem. Although it seems a theoretical issue, these questions rather should lead the Church to investigate this problem from a practical point of view. More precisely, how does the Church define herself according tot he Word of God? This question needs to be arise because at first appearance it could seem that the Hebrew Bible has an exclusivist and closed attitude towards non-Jewish people. Our study is aiming to explore Ancient Israel’s self-identity as a mediator that was based on their covenant with JHWH. Their obligation was to show up the blessing of this relationship for others. Similarly, the Christian Church is called be witness and to invite people into this fruitful tie. In that sense, a theoretical linguistic issue could turn to a shaping force in the society.
