Abstract
Collaboration between museums and schools has a key role in reinterpreting traditions and passing down values. During the course of the paradigm shifts in museums, there has been an increased focus on developing audience relations, education and the application of modern methods, which create opportunities for effective collaboration with schools. In my study, I intend to review the role of museums in public education and the museum-related elements of the National Curriculum. This essential educational role is illustrated through a case study of the project implemented in collaboration with Sóstói Múzeumfalu [Sóstó Museum Village], Nyírvasvári Általános Iskola [Nyírvasvári Elementary School], and the Department of Ethnography of the University of Debrecen. My study offers a detailed description of the program and highlights its importance and rationale in public education.
