Abstract
This article examines a manuscript documenting a celebration held on April 15, 1834, when the portrait of the esteemed and renowned Bishop of Pécs (Fünfkir-chen, Hungary) was hung in the former town hall. On this occasion, three speeches were delivered, each offering high praise for the bishop. This manuscript is consid-ered one of the earliest testimonies to the bishop’s emerging cult. The paper aims to explore the reasons and methods behind the creation of this idealized image of Bishop Szepesy.
