Abstract

A tanulmány kijelentő és kiegészítendő kérdő megnyilatkozások spontán beszédbeli megvalósulásait vizsgálja, az alábbi (a közvélekedés és a szakirodalom által tényként kezelt) kérdésekre keresve a választ: 1. a) a kijelentő megnyilatkozás és b) a kiegészítendő kérdés végén megjelenő dallamemelés nélkülöz-e minden kommunikációs funkciót; 2. csak a nők beszédére jellemző-e a) a kijelentő megnyilatkozás végi dallamemelés és b) a kiegészítendő kérdés végi emelkedő hanglejtés. A tanulmány a vizsgált jelenségek funkcióit illetően arra a következtetésre jutott, hogy a szakaszvégi dallamemelés részben beszédtervezési okokkal, részben a beszédhelyzet sajátosságaival magyarázható – természetesen ezek összefüggenek egymással. A kiegészítendő kérdések esetében pedig feltételezhető, hogy a frekvencianövekedés pragmatikai indokú: a kérdés gesztusát hivatott pregnánsabbá tenni. A vizsgálatok nem igazolták a nemek között feltételezett különbséget. | The study investigates the realization of declarative sentences and wh-questions in spontaneous speech and is aiming to answer the following questions (which are not only common beliefs but are treated as facts by the literature as well): 1. Does the rising tone at the end of (a) declarative utterances and b) wh-questions have any communicative function?; 2. Is the rising tone at the end of (a) declarative sentences and (b) wh-questions characteristic only in the speech of women? Concerning the functions of the investigated phenomena, the study concludes that the rising tone at the end of declaratives can be explained by speech planning reasons and by the characteristics of the speech situation – these two reasons are interrelated. As for wh-questions, it can be assumed that the increase of frequency has a pragmatic reason, i.e., to make the gesture of the question more significant. The investigations did not prove the hypothesis about any gender differences.
