Abstract
The study traces the changing phenomena of Hungarian folk dance in the Hungarian diaspora in Argentina and draws attention to the prominent role dance has played in transnational nation building over the past decade and a half. Through an examination of online representations of folk dance practice, it seeks to illustrate the process by which a niche activity has become a widespread, representative cultural activity involving several generations of Hungarians in Argentina, strengthening ties between Hungary and the third- and fourth-generation diaspora community.
