Abstract
Linguistic experiences in the language autobiographies can be ca tegorised as events, incidents and turns according to the narrators’ narratives, depending on whether they are based on conscious experiences or whether their occurrence caused a change in the narrator’s linguistic behaviour. Through the linguistic autobiographies of elderly bilingual speakers of the German minority in Hungary, the study presents the linguistic experiences that played a role in the development, practice and then the dismantling of their bilingualism.
