Abstract

A tanulmány Négyesy László tankönyvírói munkásságát mutatja be stilisztikai és retorikai tankönyvei alapján. Négyesyvel méltatlanul keveset foglalkozik az utókor. Nevét többnyire a pesti egyetemen tartott, legendássá vált stílusgyakorlati szemináriumai kapcsán emlegetik, ezeket többek között Babits Mihály, Kosztolányi Dezső és Juhász Gyula is látogatta. A meglehetősen sokoldalú tudós életútjának egyik alapkövét a tankönyvei jelentik. A tanulmány részletesen elemzi Négyesy stilisztikai és retorikai tankönyveit egyrészt szerkezetük és tartalmuk, másrészt tipográfiájuk alapján. Feltárja a szerző tankönyvírói munkásságának jellemzőit, meggyőzően bizonyítja modernségüket. Egyúttal feleleveníti a XIX–XX. század fordulójára jellemző oktatáspolitikai, pedagógiai, tankönyvkiadási és taneszköz-használati szokásokat is. | This study introduces László Négyesy as a textbook writer on the basis of his textbooks on stylistics and rhetoric. Posterity does not pay enough attention to Négyesy. His name is known mainly after his legendary stylistics seminars held at the university in Budapest which among others were attended by Mihály Babits, Dezső Kosztolányi and Gyula Juhász as well. Textbooks are also foot stones in the career of the versatile researcher. This study analyses the structure and content as well as the typography of Négyesy’s textbooks on stylistics and rhetoric in great detail. It reveals the characteristics of his textbook writing and illustrates their modernity in a convincing way. At the same time, the study presents the educational policy, pedagogy, textbook publishing and the use of learning materials at the turn of the 19th–20th centuries.
