Abstract

A gregoriánkutatás egyik központi témája a dallamok közötti eltérések, a variánsok vizsgálata. A dallamvariánsok információval szolgálhatnak mind a szájhagyományról, mind az írásos gyakorlatról, de éppígy hírt adhatnak a zenei alkotás helyi ízlés alakította (bizonyos fokú) szabadságáról. Napjainkban a dallamvariánsok egy- egy kottás forrás rokonságának igazolásában nyújthatnak fogódzót, s vizsgálatuk itthon a zenei fragmentológiai kutatások fellendülése révén került különösen előtérbe. A tanulmányban egy olyan módszert mutatok be, amely a szövegkritika és a stemmatika digitális megközelítésein alapul, és a leíró statisztika segítségével képes meghatározni a variánsok sokasága mögött álló (al)hagyományokat. Ennek bemutatására itt azonban nem a gregoriánt, hanem a lokális és variánsokban igen gazdag órómai hagyomány forrásait választottam ki, a vizsgálatba bevont énektételeknek ugyanakkor a gregorián analógiáira is támaszkodom. Az analízis rávilágít, hogy milyen intézményi struktúra, kapcsolatháló vagy éppen ezek hiánya húzódhat meg a kiválasztott kéziratok dallamvariánsai mögött. | One of the central themes of Gregorian chant research is the examination of variants, either small or large differences between melodies. Variants provide information about the state of orality and also written tradition, and at the same time reveal the relative freedom of musical creativity formed by local taste. Today, variants (especially with the rise of musical fragmentology research in Hungary) also provide a basis for verifying the melodic relationship between different notated sources. In this article, I present a method based on digital approaches to textual criticism and stemmatics, which uses computer tools and descriptive statistics to pinpoint the underlying subtraditions behind the multitude of musical variants. To illustrate this, I have chosen not primarily Gregorian chant, but sources of the Old Roman chant tradition, which are remnants of a local practice and rich in variants. For comparison I also rely on the Gregorian versions of the selected chants. The analysis highlights the institutional structure, network of relationships, or lack thereof, behind the variants in the manuscripts included in the study.
