Abstract
The present paper gives an overview of the ten German Words of the Year in the past decade (2011-2020). The German Word of the Year is being selected since 1971 and thus is the oldest such contest, which has since been conducted in numerous countries. The author describes the details of and the motivation behind the selected German neologisms and nonce words, and also analyses the word creations from the point of view of their Hungarian translation or equivalent.
