Abstract

A reformáció oktatási programja Magyarországra is közvetlenül hatott: a hazai középiskolákban megjelent a bibliai nyelvek tanítása, ám a 17. századra ez a lendület az evangélikusoknál megtört. Ez az időszak a református iskolákban a héber tanulmányok népszerűségét hozta el. A német egyetemek között elsősorban Wittenbergben találunk hasonló adatokat. Ennek a virágzásnak a hazai evangélikus iskolákban azonban nem látni párhuzamát, sőt a héber itt kiszorul a tantervből, és a humanista érdeklődés a klasszikus antikvitás megismerésére korlátozódik. A változást az emigrációból hazatérő pedagógusok hozták el 1681 után, hogy azután a 18. századra újra evidencia legyen a héber nyelv megbecsülése. = The educational programme of the Reformation had a direct impact on Hungary: the teaching of Hebrew was introduced in Hungarian schools, but by the 17th century, this momentum was broken in Lutheran institutions. Hebrew studies were popular in Reformed schools at this time. Among German universities, Wittenberg shows evidence of the same. However, there is no parallel to this flourishing in the Lutheran schools in Hungary of the same era, where Hebrew is excluded from the curriculum, and humanistic interest is limited to the study of classical antiquity. The change was brought about by teachers returning from emigration after 1681, so that by the 18th century the appreciation of Hebrew was once again widespread.
