Abstract
The study examines the mission and significance of the future Holocaust Museum in Sarajevo within the broader Bosnian social and historical framework. The author argues that the institution will function simultaneously as a site of remembrance, an educational centre and a platform for intercultural dialogue at a time of increasing racism, antisemitism and xenophobia. The museum aims to document the Holocaust, preserve the cultural legacy of Sarajevo’s Jewish community and reinforce Bosnia’s long-standing traditions of multicultural coexistence. Its exhibitions and educational programmes focus on survivor testimonies, human rights education and the promotion of democratic values. The study highlights the museum’s regional and international relevance, stressing its role in countering hatred, fostering understanding and contributing to Holocaust education and remembrance.
