Abstract
Farkas Bolyai is known among mathematicians. However, he was also interested in the design and con struction of stoves and ovens. In our paper we study a cast iron stove designed by Farkas Bolyai, based on a specimen found in the Museum Teleki Téka on Târgu-Mureș. Although the technical real-ization is nearly two hundred years old, the problem of inspiration is still a concern of our society today. We believe that, looking back, we can find answers, perhaps partial or complete solutions to the problem of the economical stove.
