Abstract
The rapid development of international trade conducted on the World Wide Web has created new challenges in the handling of consumer disputes. Alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, with particular regard to online dispute resolution, offer an effective, fast, and cost-efficient alternative to court proceedings. Our study presents the functioning, legal basis, and practical experience of dispute resolution on the most popular e-commercial online platforms (VLOPs), and aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the options available to consumers for enforcing their claims. Its aim is to explore how these mechanisms contribute to the sustainable development of e-commerce and consumer protection.
