Abstract

Ruth könyve szívmelengető történet, ugyanakkor komoly teológiai mondanivalóval és történeti forrásértékkel bír. A rövid történet főhőse Ruth, Dávid király nagyanyja, rajta kívül azonban két másik nő viszontagságait is bemutatja. Ez a három nő a shalom állapotából a legveszélyeztetettebb társadalmi pozícióba sodródik. Mindhárman más és más megoldási stratégiát választanak annak érdekében, hogy sérülékeny helyzetükből kijussanak. Melyek ezek a stratégiák, és vajon melyik vezet a legnagyobb jutalomra? Milyen megélhetési stratégiái lehettek egyáltalán a nőknek az Ószövetség világában, a megszilárdult patriarchátus rendszerében? Az esszé ezekre a fő kérdésekre keresi a választ. The Book of Ruth is a heartwarming story that bears serious theological implications and is, simultaneously, an important historical source. Its heroine is Ruth, grandmother to King David, but the short story also presents the hardships of two other women. These three women sink from a state of shalom into the most precarious social status. Each of them chooses different strategies in order to emerge from their vulnerable situations. What are these strategies, and which one of them offers the greatest reward? What other strategies were available to women within the world of the Old Testament, within a system of consolidated patriarchy? The essay seeks to find answers to these questions.
