Abstract

2003-2006 között a vidéki városi terek átalakulására irányuló alapkutatásokat végeztünk. A térbeli átalakulás gazdasági-társadalmi mechanizmusait tártuk fel a szuburbanizáció és a dzsentrifikáció jelenségein keresztül, Magyarországon új, kritikai geográfiai megközelítésben. A hazai és nemzetközi szakirodalom áttekintése után empirikus vizsgálatokkal tártuk fel térfolyamatok hátterében húzódó konfliktusokat. A mintaterületek kiválasztása településszintű adatok elemzése alapján történt, majd a térbeli-társadalmi struktúra elemzéséhez szükséges adatbázist állítottunk fel. Az adatok feldolgozása és megjelenítése önmagában fontos módszertani eredmény, amelyet (a tervezett kutatáson túl) alátámasztottunk egy 1000 főre kiterjedő békéscsabai lakossági kérdőíves felmérés eredményeivel is. Következő lépésként a dzsentrifikációs folyamatokat térképeztük fel a kiválasztott városok négy-négy mintaterületén, az ott található épületek paramétereinek számbavételével. Ezzel párhuzamosan a városperemi gazdasági tömörülések struktúráját mértük fel (kérdőívekkel a város peremén működő vállalkozások körében). A térbeli átalakulás gazdasági-társadalmi mechanizmusait kvalitatív módszerekkel, a helyi ingatlanpiaci, önkormányzati kulcsszereplőkkel készített interjúk, fókuszcsoportos beszélgetések segítségével tártuk fel. A kutatások eredményeként 14 publikáció született (6 külföldön jelent meg), illetve 17 konferencia-előadást tartott a kutatás két résztvevője (ebből 10-et nemzetközi fórumokon). | The research project aimed at revealing the mechanisms of urban spatial restructuring by the analysis a suburbanisation and gentrification in Hungarian county towns in the period of transformation. The theoretical framework for the research was provided by critical geographical studies. Therefore, we put the emphasis on socio-spatial conflicts, understanding the motifs and revealing the actions of key agents involved in the discussed spatial processes. For this, qualitative methods were used extensively. Empirical studies were focused on four Hungarian county towns (Szeged, Pécs, Békéscsaba, Veszprém) and the some of the surrounding municipalities. The cornerstones of the project were: 1. the analysis of the socio-spatial structure of the study areas (towns); 2. mapping the physical renewal of inner urban districts (that might be scenes for gentrification); 3. studying the changing (economic) structure of the urban fringe (by a questionnaire survey that targeted firms settled there); 4. revealing the mechanisms of the transformation of urban space (interviews, focus group discussions involving key agents). The results of the projects were 14 publication (6 in international journals/books/proceedings) and 17 conference papers (incl. 10 international).
