Abstract

A négy (illetve öt) év alatt négy nagy tanulmányt tettünk közzé a hajdani Felső-Magyarország igen fontos, kora újkori síremlék-együtteséről: a pozsonyi ferences-, a lőcsei Szent Jakab-, a szepeshelyi Szent Márton- és a turócszentmártoni Szent Márton-templomokban ma is ott őrzött (vagy egykor ott lévő) funerális emlékekről. A közlemények bevezető tanulmányból és mögéjük illesztett, igen részletes adattárból állnak, utóbbiakban szerepel az elhunyt (esetleg a síremléket állító személy) részletes életrajza, többnyire publikálatlan levéltári adatokkal gondosan megtámogatva. Minden ma is meglévő emlékhez közöltünk fotót, néha archív fotókat is. A négy cikkben olyan anyagokat dogoztunk fel, amelyek korábban kevéssé ismertek vagy teljesen ismeretlenek voltak; a kora újkori magyarországi művészet - elsősorban a szobrászat - története gazdagodott, illetve vált így pontosabban leírhatóvá. Külön kiemelendők az életrajzi adattárak, amelyek közül több a magyar történelem fontos személyiségei életútjából tüntetett el fehér foltokat. | We published four great studies in four years about the early modern funerary monuments located in some churches in the area of the former Upper Hungary (now Slovakia). These are the following ones: the parish church in Turócszentmárton (Martin), the Franciscan Church in Pozsony (Bratislava), the Saint James' Church in Lőcse (Levoča), the Saint Martin's Church in Szepeshely (Spiąská Kapitula). The studies are constituted of an introductory part followed by a very thorough database. In each database a detailed biography of the deceased (or of the person who commissioned the gravestone) is included along with unpublished information from the archives. We also publish some photos to all the remaining monuments. In the four articles we have processed previously unknown materials; the early modern history of the Hungarian Kingdom has enriched a lot by making public our work.
