Abstract

A régió országait összehasonlító, a magyar etnikummal kiemelten is foglalkozó elemzés tanúsága, hogy - az 1945-1989 közötti évtizedekben a kelet-közép-európai vallásosság erőteljesen visszaesett s ez továbbra is meghatározó, különösen a társadalmak felső rétegeiben; viszont - 1989 után a vallásosság megemelkedett és a fiatal nemzedékben továbbra is inkább emelkedik, semmint csökken; - az emberek többsége mindegyik országban a vallásosságot a társadalom szempontjából hasznos (a becsületességet erősítő, a megelégedettséget és boldogságot fokozó) tényezőnek tartja; - a régió minden országában nőtt az egyházak presztízse és közéleti szerepe, amivel egyidejűleg a polgárosultabb országok egyes rétegeiben markáns egyházellenesség mutatkozik, azaz az egyházak társadalmi helyének változása nem konfliktusmentes; - egyszerre érvényesül a modernizációval járó hagyományvesztés, valamint a vallásosság egyházon belüli és azon kívüli új formáinak erősödése; - az egyes országok eltérő modernizációjával összhangban a vallási változások és a vallásosság mértéke erőteljesen különböznek; s végül - az ezredforduló után nem a vallási fellendülés vagy csökkenés, hanem a vallásosság formaváltása és a társadalmi munkamegosztásba való beilleszkedés módjainak keresése a meghatározó. - A kárpát-medencei magyarság összehasonlításában a határon túli vallásosság minőségileg magasabb szintje a legfeltűnőbb tény. A kutatásból 4 könyv, 17 tanulmány, 32 előadás készült. | The study compares religious developments in post-communist societies, especially in Hungary and its neighboring countries. Results: - during decades of communism religion decreased in most countries, the consequences of which shape particularly contemporary upper strata; - a religious revival after 1989 has its most lasting effect among young people; - the majority of people consider churches a positive societal force promoting honesty and increasing individual contentment and happiness; - prestige and public role of traditional churches increased in all countries of the region, confronted yet with a critical stance against the churches in secularized strata of highly urbanized societies; - state and tendencies of religious developments diverge strongly according to differences in the level of modernization of individual societies; - the disintegration of tradition and the rise of new forms of religiosity within the traditional churches and outside them are simultaneous processes; - the dominating present tendencies are neither decrease nor increase of religion, but the transformation of content and form of religiosity as well as the exploration of ways of integration of religion and the churches into an overall division of labor . - In the comparison of ethnic Hungarians living in Hungary and in neighboring countries the level of religiosity is substantially higher outside than within the borders of the country.
