Abstract
From 1623 on, the Reformed Church in Transylvania held a synod once a year, when the examination of young ministerial candidates took place. The exam was based on the model of a faith dispute, i.e., the candidates argued with the opponents based on the chapters of the Second Helvetic Confession. A professor of theology of one of the Reformed colleges led the exam, which lasted three days. Those who passed the exam received their degrees and were ordained as ministers in a solemn ceremony.
