Abstract

A tanulmány Nagy Nepomuk János (1859–1906) szobrász, oltárépítő és aranyozó életét és munkásságát tekinti át helytörténeti, sajtótörténeti adatok alapján. A Budapesten és külföldön (Ausztria) tanult szobrász 1890-ben alapított önálló vállalkozást Szatmárnémetiben, ahonnan 1900-ban Temesvárra költözött. A kutatások eddigi eredményei alapján mintegy 30 templomból ismerjük neoromán és neogót stílusban alkotott oltárait, szobrait. Alkotásai napjainkig alakítják esztétikai élményeinket. | his study examines the life and work of János Nepomuk Nagy (1859–1906), a sculptor, altar builder, and gilder, using local and press history sources. Nagy studied in Budapest and abroad (Austria), and in 1890, he founded his own workshop in Szatmárnémeti (today Satu Mare, Romania). In 1900, he relocated to Temesvár (today Timișoara, Romania). Based on current research, approximately 30 churches house his Neo-Romanesque and Neo-Gothic altars and sculptures. His creations continue to shape aesthetic experiences to this day.
