Abstract

Az Appennini-félsziget és az itáliai államok elleni francia forradalmi invázió 1796-ban kezdődött. A Bourbon-ház által uralt Nápolyi Királyság 1799-ben bukott el, a várost Jean-Étienne Championnet tábornok vette be. A politikai zűrzavart kihasználva a Szicília szigetére menekült királyi udvar megbízta Fabrizio Ruffo bíborost, hogy szervezzen fegyveres haderőt a király hűségén maradt alattvalókból. A bíboros sikerrel járt, és 1799 júniusára csapatai visszafoglalták a fővárost. A tanulmány megkísérli tisztázni a restauráció eseményeinek pontos terminológiáját. Az eszmetörténeti megközelítés bővebb megértéséhez Joseph de Maistre ellenforradalmi szerző politikai teológiájának kontextusa szolgált segítségül. I The French revolutionary invasion of the Apennines and the Italian states began in 1796. The Kingdom of Naples, ruled by the House of Bourbon, was overthrown in 1799 by General Jean-Étienne Championnet. Taking advantage of the political turmoil, the royal court, which had fled to the island of Sicily, commissioned Cardinal Fabrizio Ruffo to organise an armed force from the subjects who remained loyal to the king. Cardinal Ruffo succeeded and by June 1799 his troops had recaptured the capital. The study attempts to clarify the precise terminology used to define the events of the Restoration. A broader understanding of the ideological approach was helped by the context of the political theology of the counter-revolutionary author Joseph de Maistre. In addition, the study also provides some contributions to the history of mentality, focusing on the historical backgrounds to and relevance of popular thought and religious fervour at the time of the events of 1799.
