Abstract

Az egyetemen folyó nyelvoktatás fontosságát és a diploma megszerzéséhez eddig kötelezően előírt nyelvvizsga szükségességét sokan megkérdőjelezik. Ennek több oka is lehet: többek között nem érdekli az idegen nyelv, nem volt sikerélménye a tanulás során, nem tartja a nyelvtudást fontosnak a későbbi élete során, nem tudja megszerezni a nyelvvizsgát. Tanulmányomban azt kívánom megvizsgálni, hogy egyetemünk különböző tudományterületen tanuló hallgatói hogyan vélekednek erről a kérdésről. Azaz mennyire tartják fontosnak az egyetemi idegennyelv-tanulást, van-e céljuk a nyelvvizsga megszerzésén kívül az idegennyelv-tudással, a szakmájukhoz mennyire tartják szükségesnek azt, használják-e tanórán kívül különböző helyzetekben a tanult nyelvet. Emellett a nyelvvizsgával kapcsolatos véleményüket is megismertem. A hallgatók válaszait összességében is áttekintem, ezenfelül külön-külön megvizsgálom a német, illetve angol nyelvet tanulók, valamint a négy tudományterület hallgatóinak véleményét, azért, hogy árnyaltabb képet kapjunk. | The importance of language teaching at university and the need for a language exam, which has hitherto been mandatory for obtaining a diploma, is being questioned by many. There may be several reasons for this: amongst other things you may not be interested in a foreign language, you did not have success when studying, you do not consider language proficiency to be important in later life, or you simply cannot pass the language exam. In my study, I examine how students of our university studying in various disciplines feel about this issue. That is to say, how important they consider learning a foreign language at university, whether they have a goal in studying a foreign language in addition to obtaining a language qualification, how far they consider it necessary for their profession, whether they use the language they have studied outside of class in a range of situations. I also came to know their views on the language exam. I review the responses of the students as a whole, and I also examine the opinions of German and English language learners separately, as well as students from the four disciplines, in order to get a more nuanced picture.
