Abstract

2024 novemberében új rovásfelirat került elő Homoródkarácsonyfalván az unitárius templom tornyába másodlagosan beépítve. A felirat több betűformája nem egyértelmű, de világos, hogy két részből áll: az első egy genealógiai sorozat, amely személyneveket tartalmaz. A nevek kiolvasása alapján a második szakasz is érthetővé válik: a névsor végén megnevezett személy birtoklásának kifejezése és a település 6 nemzedékkel korábbi alapításának említése. A nevek gyakoriságának vizsgálata, a településtörténet és a szöveg nyelvi sajátosságai három oldalról adnak lehetőséget a szöveg datálására. A valószínű keletkezési idő talán a XIII. sz. második, de még valószínűbben a XIV. sz. első felére tehető. | A new runiform (Rovas) inscription was found in November 2024, Homoródkarácsonyfalva (Crăciunel, Romania), built in the tower of the Unitarian church secondarily. There are several letters the form of which is ambiguous, but it is clear that it contains two parts: the first one is a genealogical list of proper names. Having deciphered the names, we can understand the second part, too: a declaration of the ownership of the person at the end of the genealogical list, and mention of the foundation of the village six generations earlier. The frequency of the names used, the settlement history and the linguistic peculiarities of the text give three different clues to the dating of the text. A probable date of the inscription may be in the second half of the 13th or even more likely in the first half of the 14th century.
