Abstract
The present study examines the demonstrative use of the 8th century parchment charters related to the monastery of St. Gall (ChLA I, II, CXVIII). Its aim is to reassess the conclusions of the previous analysis (Pálfi 2023) which was based on a new approach: the simultaneous application of formulaic and linguistic methods. However, due to its methodological complexity, temporal factors and detailed textual proximity / distance marking in determiner selection were not thoroughly investigated. Thus, this study addresses this gap and provides additional evidence supporting the previous findings: the establishing force of hic et nunc deictic ipse and the linguistic environments that foreshadowed its emergence (anaphoric ipse+supradictus+N constructions).
