Abstract
It examines 3 hymns notated with organ accompaniment in a Franciscan manuscript from the 18th century. All the hymns with Hungarian texts were intended to protect people from devastation of earthquakes: Cantilenae quae Cum Populo cum Organi cantari solent Contra terrae motum. Illustrating the relationship between historical data of earthquakes in Hungary and the Franciscan songs adressed to St. Francisc of Solano, Blessed Virgin and Jesus Christ, concordances of the hymn-tunes are investigated thoroughly, the different contemporary notated, printed forms and folk versions as well.
